چکیده

Overdiagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa) should be minimized. We wanted to evaluate the diagnostic performance health index density (PHID) and compare it with that (PHI) alone prostate-specific antigen (PSAD). 232 men scheduled for a biopsy (prostate-specific level: 2–10 µg/L), were enrolled. PHI, PHID PSAD evaluated considering PCa clinically significant (csPCa) as outcomes. For PCa, area under curve (AUC) was higher (0.823) than PHI (0.779) (0.776). csPCa, AUC also (0.851) but closer (0.819) (0.813). equal sensitivities (90%) offered highest specificities (37%), missing same number cancers (n = 11). Considering had similar specificities. reached specificity (50.0%), sparing 32.8% biopsies, while 9 cases csPCa. has better overall detection, very close performance. perform almost equally,

Age Specific Reference Levels of Serum Prostate-Specific Antigen, Prostate Volume and Prostate Specific Antigen Density in Healthy Iranian Men

Background: It is relevant to highlight that there is not a precise and perfect report on either 95 percentile value (upper limit of normal range) or on appropriate reference intervals for serum PSA in Iranian population. Objective: To determine age-specific reference ranges for serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) concentration and PSA density (PSAD) and prostate volumes in a population of he...

Association between prostate specific antigen change over time and prostate cancer recurrence risk: a joint model

Background: Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is an important biomarker to monitor patients after treated with radiation therapy (RT). The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between the PSA data and prostate cancer recurrence using the joint modeling. Methods: This historical cohort study was performed on 422 prostate cancer patients. Inclusion criteria included: patients with loc...

Elevated Prostate Health Index (phi) and Biopsy Reclassification During Active Surveillance of Prostate Cancer

The Prostate Health Index (phi) has been FDA approved for decision-making regarding prostate biopsy. Phi has additionally been shown to positively correlate with tumor volume, extraprostatic disease and higher Gleason grade tumors. Here we describe a case in which an elevated phi encouraged biopsy of a gentleman undergoing active surveillance leading to reclassification of his disease as high r...

The performance characteristics of prostate-specific antigen and prostate-specific antigen density in Chinese men

We investigated the performance characteristics of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and PSA density (PSAD) in Chinese men. All Chinese men who underwent transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy (TRUS-PB) from year 2000 to 2013 were included. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves for both PSA and PSAD were analyzed. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) a...
